This is turning out to be a very happy new year…my girlfriend BG and I are engaged! We’ve been together for a year and half and have been talking and praying about marriage for a while now. She had been in Australia for 3 months and during that time I had been planning a surprise proposal with the help of some of our friends. Before she came back I had told her that I was planning a trip to welcome her back to the country but kept the destination a secret. Since she is usually a hard person to surprise, and we had been discussing a proposal, I took her ring shopping two days before to throw her off the track. On the day of the trip, I picked her up from her house early and we took a bus into the city where we had a nice breakfast. I had led her to believe that we were going on a road trip that included hiking, but had also asked her to carry a change of clothes for a nice dinner later. From town, we took a bus to the airport and then boarded a flight to Mombasa! That’s at the coast of the Indian Ocean. We caught a pretty awesome view of Mt. Kilimanjaro from the plane.
Once we arrived, we went to the Voyager Beach Resort and spent the afternoon swimming and enjoying the beach. It’s a really nice place…

Around dusk, we took a walk down the beach.
This is the spot where I popped the question.
She was so shocked that her first reaction was to shriek “No!”…
But she then said yes!
We had an awesome private dinner on the beach, our own menu, personal server, music…it was beautifully romantic.
Even the hotel helped celebrate with these personalized messages on our dessert plates
She said it was the perfect proposal.
Now we begin the exciting journey of dowry negotiations and wedding planning
